What to know about the search for Sergio Brown: Ex-NFL player missing, mother found dead

A former NFL player went missing after his mother was found dead near her Illinois home over the weekend.
Sergio Brown’s mother was found in a creek near her home in Maywood, a village in suburban Chicago west of downtown, police shared with USA Today.
The mother-son pair were reported missing before 73-year-old Myrtle Brown was found by police on Saturday.
Maywood Police Department is investigating Myrtle Brown’s death, but have declined to say whether Sergio Brown is a person of interest or suspect in connection with his mother's death.
Sergio Brown is still considered a missing person.

Who is Sergio Brown?
Brown is a former professional footballer player. He played for the Indianapolis Colts from 2012 to 2014 in addition to three other NFL teams.
Brown was was a star defensive back at Notre Dame before he signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played seven seasons in the NFL with the Patriots, Colts, Jaguars and Buffalo Bills, with whom he played his final season in 2016.
Anyone with information regarding Brown's whereabouts is asked to contact Maywood police or their local law enforcement agency.
When was the former Indianapolis Colts player first reported missing?
Brown’s family informed the department on Saturday they could not locate or make contact with Sergio or his mom.
After filing a missing person’s report for the pair, officers then began to make attempts to locate them.
"Upon conducting a second and wider search of the area, Myrtle Brown was discovered unresponsive near a creek to the rear of her residence," police wrote in a press release.
Have there been any updates to the case?
Maywood Police are currently investigating a video posted on social media, seemingly of Brown, who was making incoherent claims about the FBI and department.
“The Maywood Police Department detectives are aware of a video that has surfaced on social media in relation to Mr. Sergio Brown, who is still considered a missing person and are also looking its' authenticity,” the department said Tuesday.
Investigators declined to share any additional information Tuesday.
After Myrtle Brown was recovered by police, she was transported to Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. Her autopsy revealed that she death was a result of multiple injuries she sustained during an assault.
“Myrtle, she was an outstanding woman, and I’m hoping she’s in the right place and she’s with God. I never would’ve expected this in a million years,” Myrtle Brown’s next-door neighbor, Carlos Cortez, told local WBBM.
